We were met on arrival by Rodney and his team with warm smiles and a refreshing drink as they assisted us with our luggage and gave us the formal introduction
to the lodge – The highlight being their proposed “sofa safari”, as the lodge overlooks a magnificent waterhole. It was absolutely unbelievable that
you are able to relax on the couch with a gin and tonic and watch the animals constantly retreat from all angles of the bush as they make their way
towards the waterhole – without having to step onto a game drive vehicle!
With introductions out of the way we headed to our rooms to freshen up and enjoy the lodge before meeting up with the rest of the guests for our afternoon game drive. As soon as we stepped into the room the idea of visiting the gym dissipated. Kathy and I found ourselves hopping into our bathing suits after reading our beautiful welcome cards and enjoying our private plunge pool while we took in the views of passing animals as they made their way to the waterhole. How lucky was I that I was able to catch a tan while viewing these beautiful creatures before my eyes!
With the sun still out, and feeling refreshed after our swim we made our way to the main area to enjoy an afternoon high tea, while sitting up on the elevated viewing deck. It was amazing for me to see herds of giraffe, wart hog, zebra and impala play around together in harmony right in front of me, as I merrily munched on my cupcake.
Amongst the amazing food and wine experience, being able to tick off our big five viewing on our drives, this was truly a lodge experience I will cherish forever! I can’t wait for my next adventure in the bush and to be able to come back and more of my experiences with you!
Until next time!
