Uthando SA, the brainchild of James Fernie who is an inspirational member of the tourism industry in Cape Town, has successfully launched a township touring product with a conscience! The best part is that he has made it possible for everyone to participate in this rapidly growing tourism sector.

But how, you ask? It’s easy! By supporting Uthando SA and booking a tour which visits the project’s worthwhile initiatives, you are able to contribute towards responsible tourism that ensures sustainable growth and income.

The Uthando SA guided tours take clients on an authentic, non-intrusive, interactive journey into the reality of township living in Cape Town. The issues broached by these projects are not addressed in most other township tours currently running. In addition to supporting specific projects, this tour will give clients a meaningful insight into our political history and issues affecting the South African people who live in these areas today.

Over and above booking these tours, there is also another way of being part of Uthando’s projects, and that is to add a contribution to each and every trip we book to South and Southern Africa, regardless of whether they are joining on of the tours.
